Meet Riley

Riley Farquhar, MSW, RSW (she/ her)

Therapist & Practice Owner

Therapy can be a vulnerable experience. Connecting with support can often require bravery and trust. My goal is to offer you a safe, open, and constructive place to explore your goals.

I am passionate about the critical role that mental health plays in overall well-being, including physical, social, and emotional health. Having experienced my own health struggles, life transitions, and challenges, I am acutely aware of how important it is to consider holistic factors when addressing mental health needs.

It is important to me that my practice reflects my values of authenticity, compassion, and non-judgemental support. Humour, honesty, and unique, practical strategies for each individual I work with are foundational to my practice. Therapy is not one-size-fits all, and I want those I work with to feel I have heard them.

Following my Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (HBA), I sought to apply my learning and interest in human psychology in a practical, meaningful way. I completed an Honours Bachelor of Social Work (HBSW) and Masters of Social Work (MSW) with a focus on clinical application in mental health counselling. My experience in providing individual therapy has ranged from crisis intervention, health-oriented support, structured therapy, and brief interventions.

I work with a number of different therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Client-Centred Therapy, and more. I also utilize tools and strategies from additional therapeutic approaches when fitting and appropriate. This type of approach is called a generalist-eclectic, and it allows me to provide you with tailored support that is customized for you and your individual needs. I also value evidence-based strategies that have been demonstrated to be effective. In addition to my existing skills and knowledge, I always strive toward continued education and training in order to further develop the therapeutic techniques I am able to provide for a broad range of needs.

I offer confidential therapy by phone or secure video-conferencing. This allows clients to access meaningful change from the comfort of their homes. If you are interested in learning more, you can connect with me for a free 15-minute consultation by emailing office@maplegrovetherapy.ca or booking online.
